TROPEZ CORNER SHELVES
The Tropez Corner Shelf was designed as a range expansion for an already successful range at John Lewis. After an extensive period of competitor research, a gap was identified in John Lewis products and the design suggested to their buyers. The product went on sale in store and online in 2021.
Ideal for smaller spaces, the corner shelves are an alternative to bulkier display units, designed to be tucked away in the corner. The shelves have a sleek, modern design and are easy to assemble with reliable, subtle knock-down fittings. The thick, tempered glass shelves are high quality and are supported by square steel legs with a matt black powder-coated finish. This finish allows the whole piece to be wipe-clean as well as providing a classy finish at a reasonable price. The simple design prides itself on versatility, suitable for a wide range of interior styles.
The Tropez Range consists of a variety of tables including a dining table, console table, desk and nesting side tables; so this corner shelf design was pushing the boundaries of what this range had been before. Despite being significantly larger than the other items in the range, the shelves were designed to be completely flat pack, with sturdy knock down fittings. The glass shelves were supported by metal shelf pins with silicone bumpers on the inside to prevent any damage. The effect of being able to use glass shelves in this way as that the shelves seem less intrusive to the space, and smaller, as they let a lot of the light through.
