HARVARD CHIFFEROBE

The Harvard Chifforobe was designed as part of a range expansion brief for John Lewis and went on sale in late 2021. It was designed to fill an identified hole in the market, through analysis of their own products and conducting competitor research. Made from painted MDF and liquid gold finished mild steel, the aim of this product was to have a high-quality feel at a lower price point.

The shape and size of the MDF panels have been optimised to maximise board usage and the materials and processes used in this product were optimised for factory production in Vietnam, in order to meet an extremely keen price point. All of these optimisation features help to seamlessly integrate this product into an already successful range at John Lewis.

The Harvard range combines modern profiles with classic art-deco style to rejuvenate the historical design style. The fluid pattern on the door front, along with sleek, tapered brass-effect legs give this contemporary piece a more playful edge. Designed to be suitable for small-space living, the chifforobe is a take on low wardrobes, combining hanging space and adjustable shelving in a compact unit. The product itself is knock down, with brass effect bolts and threaded metal inserts giving a subtle but reliable source of fixing.
